What fans say about Maxwell’s work

Author Bio

Maxwell Conroe writes literary fiction focusing on existential questions – in short stories and novels. Maxwell’s passion lies in innovative writing about issues that matter. He uses the power of imagination to create prose in search for answers to existential questions. Fact and fiction blend seamlessly in his stories. Among his sources of inspiration are Guy de Maupassant, Jorge-Luis Borges, George Orwell, Anatole France, Washington Irving, Anton Chekov, Ivan Turgenev, Sonya Tolstaya, Leo Tolstoy, Nikolay Gogol, Franz Kafka and many others.

His short story bundles Mind Twisters (2022) and Magic Musings (2023) have been hailed with critical acclaim. Maxwell’s relentless search for answers to existential questions continues in The Meaning of Being (2023). He visits Leo Tolstoy’s estate at Yasnaya Polyana in Russia’s Tula Province. From his burial mount, the resurrected Count Leo proclaims a new series of Tolstoyan revelations, condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Maxwell Conroe shows us how existential answers come from unexpected sources. “Sherlock Holmes teaches us to be observant, reflect and connect the dots to reveal the unseen,” says Conroe. “This strategy comes in handy, when setting and adjusting the course of our own journey in life, based on precisely his methods.” Maxwell teams up with his virtual co-author Dr. John Watson, and they produce three delightful Holmes -pastiches with a new twist: The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Volumes 1-3 (2024/2025).

Skeleton Point (2025) is a spell-binding travelogue across the US Grand Canyon, with brain-teasing apparitions. The maze of the Canyon’s Trail System acts as a metaphor for how we must negotiate the pace and direction of our life path. The books by Maxwell Conroe can be ordered via Amazon.
